How Approval Rating is Calculated

Each user submits responses to weighted questions relevant to the official's office scope (Federal, State, or LGA). The weighted average of all responses forms the approval score on a 1–5 scale, converted to a 0–100% display.

Weight of Approve vs Disapprove

Questions carry individual weight values (1–5). Strongly favourable answers scale higher. The system prevents ballot stuffing by enforcing one vote per authenticated user, with changes tracked in the audit log.

Confidence Score

Confidence increases with vote volume. Officials with fewer than 10 votes display a low-confidence indicator. At 100+ votes, the confidence score reaches its maximum and the rating is considered statistically significant.

How Engagement Influences Visibility

The Credibility Index combines approval rating, vote volume, momentum, and forum sentiment. Higher credibility lifts an official's prominence on the leaderboard. Forum activity and policy discussion engagement are weighted at 15%.

Tie-Breaking Logic

When two officials share the same approval percentage, ranking is decided by: (1) total vote count, (2) momentum score, (3) credibility index. Ties at all three levels display alphabetically.

Update Frequency

Ratings update in real time as votes are submitted. Aggregates are recalculated within seconds via backend functions. Historical snapshots are taken daily for trend analysis. The leaderboard reflects the most current data at all times.

Data Integrity Commitment

All votes are stored with encrypted user identifiers. Vote manipulation attempts are automatically flagged. Admins may remove only verifiably invalid votes, with every action logged in a public-facing audit trail.
